INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL
TALENT SHOW
June 3, 2008

On the afternoon
of June 3, 2008, parents, friends, and students of International
School were treated to a showcase of talents, creativity, and
showmanship at the school’s annual Talent Show. Held at Samaná, the show
served as an opportunity for students to share with the audience their
gifts and hard work in extracurricular interests, including dance,
music, and theater.
Budding artists
in the making, participants voluntarily put together acts,
choreographed, selected the music, and practiced their moves for the
gala of talents. The acts included students of various grade levels and
highlighted the creative solidarity among the boys and girls of
International School. As an open platform of self-expression, the
Talent Show was an important event during which the children could
present themselves and their interests, likes, and tastes to the greater
school community. It also served as an example to the littlest ones of
the student body, to awaken their artistic interests and share them in
the future in a public forum.
As can be
expected, some of the most popular music and dance styles were chosen
for the majority of the acts. These often included props such as
streamers and even a basketball, as well as brightly colored and
coordinated costumes. Valeria Solís shared with the audience two dances
that she performed on stage alone. In addition to dance, however, there
was a short play presented, Héctor playing his violin, and Diego telling
some jokes. All three levels of kindergarten danced in groups to catchy
tunes and with fun costumes. Lastly, Karen Montes de Oca, an alumna of
International School, returned to the Talent Show accompanied by
her students to perform belly dancing and contribute to the splendid
variety of the afternoon.
