INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL
MOTHER’S DAY
May 2008

International
School parents were treated to an abridged performance of Mary
Poppins on May 8, 2008, in celebration of Mother’s Day. Everyone,
from the tots in nursery school to sixth graders, participated in the
lively show, which featured songs and brief speaking roles from the
musical based on P. L. Travers’s book about the nanny who is brought
into the Banks family’s life on the east wind, only to change them
forever.
Among the
cheerful songs were “Jolly Holiday,” “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” “A
Spoonful of Sugar,” “Chim, Chim Cher-ee/Step in Time,” and “Let’s Go Fly
a Kite,” each of which was accompanied by dancing and props. Other
highlights of the morning were the opening “Mañanitas” sung by the
student body and Yunuén Elizarraras’ reading of her beautiful poem
written for her mother.
The actors
included Lizeth Altamirano and Ximena Higuera, sharing the role of Mary
Poppins; Pablo Bribiesca, as Bert; Mathew Xavier Earathu, as Mr. Banks;
Valeria Guillén, as Mrs. Banks; Gonzalo Caballero and Paulette Aguirre,
as the Banks children, Michael and Jane; Valeria Solís, as Mrs. Grill;
and Antonella Peimbert, as Katie Nanna. Thank you all for a
wonderful show.
