INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL
UNITED NATIONS
PROGRAM
October 24, 2005

October
is a month of important events. International School celebrates United
Nations day as part of its bilingual cultural and academic program.
Miss Yvonne, director and teachers prepare children from kindergarten
and primary levels to perform important aspects of other cultures and to
give significant statistics about noteworthy values which are
international, not country-specific.
The program,
which was in English and Spanish, started after saluting the Mexican
flag. Then there was a parade with flags of many countries from around
the world. Some children wearing country-specific costumes participated
in the parade.
Martin Luther
King´s love for humanity with his human rights philosophy was
demonstrated by the third graders. The fifth graders mentioned the
latest Nobel Awards which were given this year, and first graders
performed: “Los Niños Amamos al Planeta”, while the second graders
presented a theme on peace.
Nursery and
kindergarten also participated, dancing to “El Mundo Pequeño”. This
celebration also had the traditional round table, presented by the sixth
graders, with discussions and debates on important issues which involve
all countries. This year they focused on weather disasters and the
consequences these had on people, their territories, and the economy as
a whole.
At the end, all
children sang in Spanish “Que Canten los Niños” and in English “Sing”.
A dove flew over the grounds, representing peace, and there was a minute
of silence for those people who suffered from the natural disasters.
