INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL
Thanksgiving Day - 2008

Thanksgiving is a yearly celebration of life and its bountifulness.
Celebrated in the United States on the last Thursday of November,
coinciding with the close of the traditional harvest in the Northeastern
sector of the country, it is an opportunity to gather with friends and
family to reflect on all that we have, rather than what we lack, and to
share this abundance with those who touch our lives.
Friends, family, and staff of International School marked this
tradition on November 28 by gathering on the grounds of the school to
hold a picnic. Families and teachers spread out blankets and brought
food to share, and during the afternoon the children played, while the
adults commingled. First- and second-grade teacher Miss Elvira offered
face painting, and other teachers played games such as volleyball with
their students. Jordan Marcos’s mother, Pamela, gave a speech about
Thanksgiving and its meaning, and her husband offered a prayer.
