INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL
GRADUATION 2009
July 2009
International School’s Class of 2009 graduated on Saturday, July 11,
with all the pomp and circumstance they deserved. The eight youngsters
will now embark on their middle school studies, and the 11
kindergartners will now move on to elementary school.
Highlights of
the ceremony included speeches given by the graduates as well as the
guest of honor, biochemist Maria Eugenia Campos Torres. Amelia Jaime and
Seiki Hiromoto shared some words in Spanish and in English,
respectively, about their favorite moments of kindergarten. Pablo
Bribiesca started off his salutatorian speech recollecting his first
week of school, when he could speak no English and made a lasting
friendship with a classmate who translated for him. With pride he now
stood before the audience sharing these memories in English. Alix Lizeth
Altamirano, as valedictorian, shared words of optimism, urging her
fellow classmates to move forward, always striving to attain their
dreams. Ms. Campos Torres urged the children to reach for the top
because from there they would find a beautiful and inspirational view.
She also advised them not to fear the next steps in their lives because
they can be assured as students of International School that they are
well prepared for what they will encounter.
Other students
from all primary grades also received recognition for special
achievements during the school year, including, of course, honor role.
The little ones in kindergarten and nursery school received their
diplomas earlier in the week. Similarly, the school’s dedicated teachers
received special recognition, as did various parents who have given
significant amounts of time to the school.
It wasn’t just
all talk, however. The graduating kindergartners shared the song
“Celebrate You” with the audience. The elementary schoolers sang “No Me
Doy por Vencido” (I Won’t Give Up) and “Imagine,” while the graduating
sixth graders chose to sing “Climb.”
Good luck to all the graduates
in their future endeavors.
